DEBORAH: Breaking Free From The Darkness of Bias

Is justice essential to the Biblical narrative and specifically is justice essential to the Gospel? Well, being committed to justice, which is inevitably social/societal, is central to what it means to be a people of God and it’s central to our understanding of the scriptures. Pastor Anthony Does reveals how the darkness of revenge, racism and pride leads to tribalism and trends towards violence. 

When God freed His people from Egypt, from material/physical oppression, He wanted that experience to shape them in a way that they organized their own society. The people of God were called to be an attractive alternative to the ‘Nations’. In Judges we see this conflict lived out and how Deborah overcame the darkness of bias as judge, prophet and as a Mother in Israel.
