COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Update – June 1

Dear Bethany Family,

Dear Bethany Family,

First and foremost, we continue to pray you and your families are healthy and safe during these days.

We have come a long way since things shut down in March. We have settled into our online interactions and have seen a very positive response to our online, weekly ministry options. We have welcomed Pastor Anthony and family to Bethany and continue to be blessed by his weekly sermons and FB Live sessions. On a praise note we have an arrangement with Kingdom Insight TV Network in Guelph that has allowed Pastor Anthony to record his weekly sermons for not only Bethany, but Bethel Church as well.

As a Leadership Team we continue to prayerfully monitor the situation as it pertains to COVID-19. We realize it is very fluid and changing almost daily. Although we were cautiously optimistic we would be able to reopen in June, recent events would suggest it will be later than that. We are very sensitive to ensuring we keep our church family safe and, at the same time, are aware there are many who are eager to get back to in person worship services. We will provide more details as they become available in the coming days. Please continue to pray for the health and well-being of people around the world, for wisdom and discernment for our elected officials and, most importantly, that people would continue to turn to God and His Word for answers to the many questions they have during this crisis!

Worship

We have been blessed to have been able to Live Stream Pastor Anthony over the past few weeks and we will continue worshiping in this format for the foreseeable future. Sunday service will be held at 10am and you can connect in the following way:

Go to www.bethanyemc.ca and click on the COVID-19 “More Information” button and there will be a link to the service.

Service time – 10:00am – 11:00am

The great news in this uncertain time is that God is reaching millions more people around the world who would not have stepped foot in a church. PTL as these are exciting days!

Extended Closure Date

Our Leadership Team is working on plans to return to worship service(s) in our building. We will be providing further updates at the appropriate time as we approach the return date. Our offices are now open from Monday to Thursday from 9 – 1.  We continue to answer incoming calls and emails and we will do our best to respond in a timely fashion should you require further assistance.

Ongoing Ministries:

As per our previous update, we are pleased to be continuing important ministry areas to support and encourage you in these days:

Tithes and Offerings

As you can appreciate, we still need to sustain our ministry and continue to maintain our fixed costs through this time. We realize there are a few different methods our church Family uses to do this.  Please visit our web site www.bethanyemc.ca , click on the “How to Give” button for further details and choose a method that works best for you.

  • E-Transfer
  • Online Donations
  • Mail or in Person – the church is now closed but you can drop your cheque (No cash please) in the mail drop located to the left of the parking lot side door entrance

God Bless and Hope to see you all, in person, again soon!

Be Encouraged – A Final Word from Pastor Anthony

Jesus is the King, Not Corona. Although the coronavirus receives its name from the many crowns it displays. It is a false king.

In listening prayer, I heard. “Remember what I have done not what the enemy is doing.” If ever there was a time to discern and apply the finished work of Christ Jesus it is now. His cross has the final word in these matters. Jesus Christ is still Lord.

In Acts 4:29-30 (NLT) “And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

When the early church was threatened with extinction through persecution they “remembered” who was really the King. Not Caesar but Christ. Not Corona but Christ. As you remember Him today it will shift your focus off of Covid-19 and onto the King of kings!

Yours in His faithful hold,
Pastor A.
