Welcome!

Welcome!

Welcome to our new Bethany website!

A new look for a new fall season. Thanks to Daryl Knarr for doing the bulk of the work on our new site, and Ray Stewart for his ongoing assistance!

As I think about the fall season I think of all it suggests: new opportunities at work, renewing friendships at school, starting the next chapter in life, stepping back into routines and making plans for things we want to accomplish. And I am drawn to a verse in Proverbs.

We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall.
Proverbs 16:33 NLT

What a great reminder!

We can go ahead and make plans to establish new routines, make new friends, accomplish more at work, launch a new website, get higher grades in school and all kinds of other great goals. There’s nothing wrong with that. Absolutely nothing. In fact I know the Lord wants us to make the most of our time on earth.

Above that, the writer of Proverbs tells us to keep in mind that we should hold our plans loosely and openly before the Lord. Be open to the possibility of a curveball or two. A change we haven’t anticipated. Because ultimately God’s plans will always be better than ours. And if both God and we want the best for our lives, then His plan should always win. In fact the writer of Proverbs says that God’s plan will ultimately win, so let’s jump on board!

As the weather slowly turns more chilly, the leaves fall and the calendar pages turn, may our practice & prayer be to mark our calendar dates, goals and plans in pencil; and have the willingness to obediently write over top of them in ink when God speaks with His plan.
