07 Dec Proclaiming a Mighty Saviour
This past weekend was, and each year is, one of the biggest weekends on our church calendar. Pageant Weekend.
And what a great weekend it was! Close to 175 cast and crew gathered to GIVE their time and help tell the Christmas Story for our community.
And approximately 14,600 people viewed it this year over nine shows in three days, which is totally amazing and MIND BLOWING!
That’s a lot of people to assemble for any event! That’s more than assemble for a Kitchener Rangers game – woah…
More important though than the high number of attendees is this number – at least three people that we know of at this point (without reviewing the comment cards, and follow up etc.) made decisions to receive Jesus as their Saviour this weekend.
That is FANTASTIC!
THAT is why we do this. That’s what we want to say about all that we do collectively as a church. We want to see people come to faith in Jesus. We want to lead people to Jesus and see them be transformed by Him by the power of the Holy Spirit as we serve Him together.
The Christmas Story is true and changes lives.
That’s what filled Zechariah, the priest with hope and caused him to prophecy these words in the Christmas Story:
Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and redeemed His people. He has sent us a Mighty Saviour from the royal line of His servant David, just as He promised through His holy prophets long ago. (Luke 1:68-70 NLT)
We serve a Mighty Saviour – more present in our lives and powerful than any nation or person on the planet and in the universe. We serve a God who loves us, redeems us and is with us each day, in every moment of our lives. Just as He promised.
So thank you to everyone who helped make Pageant Weekend a reality this year. From Mike Reinhardt and the entire Pageant Executive to the folks who serve cookies in the gym to those who clothed the cast and who served the crew food all week and into the weekend, the security teams, parking lot attendants and the list goes on… Thank you!
Our desire at Bethany is to lead people into a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. That’s our vision. To tell people they need to know what we know – that there is a Mighty Saviour who wants to know them and already loves them. What better time to say it than at Christmas to all who will listen!
