How to have intimacy with God

Daniel 11:32b

January 9, 2023: Those who know: Daniel 11:32b

Knowing God is a choice made everyday of our lives. Our passage today tells us that

those who endure are those who know God intimately. Do you see surrender and

intimacy as territory by territory or your life as a whole? Ask the Lord how He sees

intimacy.

January 10, 2023: Before you call: Isaiah 65:23

Intimacy with God changes our conversation and mindset towards God. Have you ever

spent time before speaking to someone agonizing over the words you would share?

God’s heart is that you would never experince that with Him and that comes through

intimacy. Be open to the Lord with this today.

January 11, 2023: Hidden Things: Jeremiah 33:3

The reality that there are things God knows that we don’t is easy to accept but does

not always play out in our lives. When challenges and trails arise what is your first

inclination? Our scripture reminds us that there are great and hidden things in the mind

of the Lord that He desires to share with us. What better way to start out your day in

devotion than with revelation from the Lord.

January 12, 2023: In the ordinary: 1 Corinthians 10:31

While you seek God for mountains to be moved don’t forget how He can show up in

your everyday life. Intimacy with God begins with acknowledging that God has

something to say about your daily life. Let's learn, with our scripture’s encouragement,

that whatever we are doing, we need to seek intimacy with our heavenly Father.

January 13, 2023: Ending earthly efforts: Colossians 3:5

Intimacy with God is not a result of earthly effort but rather spiritual discipline. Our

passage speaks to dealing with the desires of this world that draw us away from God.

Perhaps most powerful is the desire to earn God’s affection and intimacy. In your

devotional time ask the Lord to reveal any earthly ways you strive for His affection and

intimacy and then rest in the new thing God will do in your heart.

January 14, 2023: God does not forget: Isaiah 49:15

Intimacy will always require reminders and God understands this too. You may be

reading this devotional today in a dark place, finding it hard to believe the closeness

God desires for you. Or you may be riding high and don’t see the need. Either way,

God’s heart is for you. Our scripture for today tells us that God will not forget us. Let

God remind you of this truth in your time with Him today.

January 15, 2023: Gave all for intimacy: John 3:16

Often when we read our passage we see clearly the salvation plan of God, and rightly

so. While the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross brought salvation, it also brought intimacy

with God. The full effect of salvation is abiding intimacy with God. Allow God today to

begin to work out His intention behind salvation, which is true abiding intimacy with

you.
